Unity is God’s primary intention, but since the Fall it has been based on the separation of good and evil. Individual responsibility takes precedence over collective responsibility, and this is first and foremost reflected in the Christian’s walk, in which he must keep himself separate from all evil and all mixture. To practice good, one must first be separated from evil oneself.
